NYOTA Beneficiaries Set to Receive Final KSh25,000 Grant
Thousands of young Kenyans enrolled in the NYOTA program will receive their remaining startup funds by June 30, 2026. Consequently, beneficiaries will access the final KSh25,000 tranche of the business startup grant.
The confirmation came from Susan Mang’eni during an update on the program’s implementation. Additionally, the government is working alongside the World Bank to complete the disbursement process.
Officials say all eligible beneficiaries will receive the funds simultaneously.
Total Startup Capital Reaches KSh50,000
The NYOTA initiative provides startup capital to support youth entrepreneurship across Kenya. Initially, beneficiaries received the first KSh25,000 installment. Additionally, KSh22,000 was deposited into beneficiaries’ e-wallets.
The remaining KSh3,000 was directed to their National Social Security Fund savings accounts. Consequently, the upcoming payment will bring the total grant amount to KSh50,000.
The funding aims to help young entrepreneurs establish and grow sustainable businesses.
Why the Disbursement Faced Delays
The second payment experienced delays due to changes in the program’s implementation strategy. Initially, authorities planned to disburse funds through a phased and clustered approach.
However, the government later adopted a nationwide rollout model. Consequently, officials had to adjust systems to accommodate more than two million applicants.
The shift increased processing requirements but aimed to ensure fairness and inclusivity. Authorities now say preparations for the final disbursement are complete.

Who Qualifies for the NYOTA Program?
The program targets young Kenyans seeking economic empowerment opportunities. Eligible applicants must be between 18 and 29 years old.
Additionally, persons with disabilities can qualify up to the age of 35. The initiative primarily serves youth with a Form Four education level or lower.
Consequently, the program focuses on supporting vulnerable groups with limited employment opportunities. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen entrepreneurship and reduce youth unemployment.
Beneficiaries Advised to Stay Alert
Authorities have urged beneficiaries to prepare for the final payout. Additionally, recipients who completed Business Development Services training should remain vigilant.
Beneficiaries should keep their registered phone numbers active. Consequently, they will receive official notifications regarding the disbursement process.
The government has advised participants to monitor messages carefully and follow official instructions.
Program Expected to Boost Youth Entrepreneurship
The NYOTA initiative remains one of Kenya’s key youth empowerment programs. Additionally, the funding provides young entrepreneurs with resources to launch income-generating ventures.
Officials expect the grants to stimulate small business growth across the country. Consequently, the program could create jobs and strengthen local economies while expanding opportunities for Kenya’s youth.
