Suspect Nabbed in Murang’a for Alleged Theft of Police Uniforms

Police officers in Kigumo Sub-County have arrested a suspect believed to be connected to the theft of police uniforms in the Kangari area of Murang’a County. The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation conducted by officers from Kangari Police Station.

Officers Recover Stolen Police Uniforms

During the arrest, officers recovered several items suspected to be stolen police attire. The items included jungle trousers, a shirt bearing a corporal’s chevron, and a blue police jersey.

Additionally, investigators revealed that the uniforms were stolen from a police station in Nyamira North. The findings strengthened the case and linked the suspect directly to the crime.

Suspect in Custody as Investigations Continue

The suspect is currently being held at Kangari Police Station pending arraignment. Meanwhile, detectives continue to gather more evidence to determine whether the suspect acted alone or was part of a wider network involved in the theft of government-issued uniforms.

NPS Reaffirms Commitment to Public Safety

While confirming the arrest, the National Police Service (NPS) emphasized its ongoing commitment to safeguarding government property.

Moreover, the service warned that misuse of police equipment could jeopardize public safety and threaten national security.

“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to protecting government property and preventing the misuse of police equipment, as such misuse could compromise public safety and security,” NPS stated.
