Gor Mahia Part Ways with Coach Sinisa Mihic After Three Months

Gor Mahia Football Club has agreed to end its contract with head coach Sinisa Mihic. The Serbian coach’s tenure lasted three months and was marked by poor results and internal conflicts. These issues have hurt the club’s chances of winning this season’s league title.

Sinisa Mihic’s Appointment and Challenges

On February 3, 2025, Mihic was hired on a six-month probationary deal to replace Brazilian coach Leonardo Neiva. From the start, Mihic faced difficulties managing the team and its technical staff. Disagreements and inconsistent performances on the field marred his time.

Internal Conflicts Affect Team

The coach publicly accused assistants Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno, Michael Nam, and team manager Victor Nyaoro of sabotage and blackmail. In early April, Sinisa Mihic expelled his assistants from a training session. Efforts to reconcile failed, and the conflicts disrupted team morale and harmony.

Poor Results on the Pitch Due to Sinisa Mihic and Technical Bench Conflict

Under Mihic, Gor Mahia’s form was erratic. The team dropped essential points that could have boosted their league position. In a key 1-1 draw with Sofapaka, Sinisa Mihic, serving a touchline ban, walked out of the stadium in protest. He also criticized the squad’s quality and the lack of impactful substitutes.

Interim Coaches Take Over After the Exit of Sinisa Mihic

After Mihic’s departure, assistant coaches Zico and Nam will be interim coaches. They will have to steady the team with ten matches left in the season. The duo will try to revive Gor Mahia’s title hopes and improve team performance.

Club Management Calls for Unity

Chairman Ambrose Rachier acknowledged the internal issues and stressed the need for unity and discipline. The club soon plans to find a permanent coach but supports Zico and Nam.
