Kenya Eyes Glory as World U-21 Taekwondo Action Starts at Kasarani
Team Kenya is fully prepared to shine as the World Under-21 Taekwondo Championship begins on Wednesday at the Kasarani Indoor Arena. The squad of 16 athletes has trained intensively at the Kenya Academy of Sports and is eager to perform before home fans.
Global Participation Highlights Kenya’s Growing Status
Moreover, the inaugural championship has attracted strong global interest, drawing 77 countries and over 450 athletes. Top taekwondo nations such as South Korea, the United States, Israel, Russia, and Egypt have joined the competition.
Additionally, international teams and World Taekwondo officials arrived in Nairobi over the weekend, setting the stage for a high-level event.
Kenya Confirms Full Readiness for the Event
Kenya Taekwondo Federation President Major (Rtd) Suleiman Sumba praised the huge turnout and reaffirmed Kenya’s readiness to host the championship.
He stated that the high participation shows global trust in Kenya’s ability to host major events.
Furthermore, he noted that organisers have completed all logistical, technical, and security plans in partnership with ARCrayon Communications, government agencies, and World Taekwondo officials.
High Expectations for Team Kenya’s Performance
Major (Rtd) Sumba also expressed confidence in Team Kenya’s medal prospects. He said the athletes’ intensive training and recent guidance from Olympic champions have boosted morale.
As a result, he expects the team to deliver strong performances and secure several medals, inspired by the home crowd’s support.
