The Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) is hosting its 8th Annual Editors’ Convention at the Sun & Sand Beach Resort in Kikambala, Kilifi County. Information Communication and Technology Cabinet Secretary (ICT), William Kabogo was in attendance.
This year’s event marked the largest turnout yet, underscoring the growing demand for stronger media leadership, digital transformation, as well as ethical reporting in an era of rapid information change.
KEG President Zubeida Kananu stated that journalists continue to face harassment, violence, and above all economic suffocation.
She cited the Gen-Z protests where more than 20 journalists were injured, cameras smashed, and female reporters threatened with sexual violence. Kananu stressed on the story of Catherine Wanjeri, a journalist shot three times at close range, who is still waiting for justice.
