Former Cop’s Emotional Appeal Sparks Wave of Support Online Over Debt

Former prison officer Jackson Kihara, alias Cop Shakur, arrested and taken to prison on debt charges.

Cop Shakur left police service for criticizing government. According to the X influencer, He has shared a short video showing him handcuffed in prison over debt claims.

He has appealed to Kenyans of goodwill to help him with donations, in addition shared his phone number. “They selected themselves” “Anyone who can help, come to Thika main prison. Anyone who can send anything, my number is 07…..2 – Jackson Kihara,” Shakur added.

Shakur launched a laundry shop a week ago, in all honesty said he will appreciate any support since he is prison not as a criminal, but as a civil debtor. “I’ve been trying to pay my debts after being fired. I was helped to open a shop in Kikuyu, so that I can pay my debts. I had an active arrest warrant for failing to pay a debt”. 

How did he launch the shop?

The former prison officer launched his laundry shop in a colorful event. Embakasi East MP Babu Owino as the chief guest during the launch in Kikuyu town. Babu congratulated Shakur for not only taking a bold step but also a commendable one.

 “I want to congratulate Shakur for taking this bold step. This new establishment is more than just a business; It is a commitment to quality service, convenience and community growth,” Babu shared online.

 Is Cop Shakur planning to run for political seat?

In May, Shakur shared his plans to shift from activism to leadership, to active politics.

Cop Shakur has a plan to contest for parliamentary seat. He has already kicked off his campaign, beginning with a door-to-door outreach strategy as he aims to clinch the Kikuyu MP seat. Some supporters have urged him to stay determined and push on.
