Malava, Kasipul Candidates Speak Out After By-Election Losses
Malava parliamentary hopeful Seth Panyako and Kasipul candidate Philip Aroko have finally addressed the results of Thursday’s nationwide by-elections.
Both DAP-Kenya’s Panyako and Independent Aroko lost, but neither is taking the outcome lightly.
Panyako Challenges Malava Results
In a statement on Friday, November 28, Panyako accused electoral officials of malpractice in 54 polling stations, despite winning 134 out of 198 stations.
“We won in 134 out of 198 polling stations, but still they managed to manipulate and subvert the will of the people. They used 54 polling stations to steal the elections,” Panyako said.
He also blamed the government for allegedly instigating violence in Malava to intimidate him and his supporters.
Panyako thanked his supporters for standing by him amid threats and violence.
“Thank you, my Malava people. Your love and trust in me have been steadfast. But to those who subvert your will, judgment awaits them. Despite violence against us and attempts on my life, you stood firm,” he said.
The DAP-Kenya candidate insisted that the loss would not derail his political ambitions.
“I have not lost this election, and therefore, it cannot determine my political future. Thank you once again,” he added.

Aroko Expresses Gratitude to Supporters
Philip Aroko, who lost in Kasipul, also addressed his supporters, praising their dedication throughout the election.
“To my cherished constituents and supporters in Kasipul and across the nation, I extend my deepest gratitude for your love and support,” Aroko said.
He called the election journey a “testament to your commitment,” noting that the challenges faced did not dampen the people’s passion.
“While the path has been challenging, your spirit made every step worthwhile. I was truly moved by the extraordinary passion and concern you exhibited,” he added.

No Acknowledgment of Opponents
Neither Panyako nor Aroko formally recognized the victories of David Ndakwa (Malava) or Body Were (Kasipul).
Both candidates now appear set to continue their political journeys despite the setback.
