Starlink Resumes Sign-ups in Nairobi After 7-Month Pause

After a long wait, Starlink has reopened sign-ups in Nairobi. The satellite internet provider had paused new registrations for over seven months.

Starlink Sign-ups Are Back in Nairobi

Starlink is once again accepting new users in Kenya’s capital. The service was unavailable for sign-ups since late 2024 due to issues with demand and supply.

Users can now place orders through the official Starlink website. The hardware kit is listed at Ksh 89,000, with a monthly service fee of Ksh 6,500.

Why It Was Unavailable

In December 2024, Starlink stopped accepting new residential users in several urban areas. Nairobi was one of the affected regions.

The pause was linked to limited satellite capacity in high-demand zones. Some users also reported long delays in receiving kits after placing orders.

Increased Demand for Reliable Internet

Many Nairobi residents turned to Starlink as an alternative to fibre and mobile networks. Its ability to deliver fast speeds in low-coverage areas made it a popular choice.

Businesses in remote parts of Nairobi also found the service to be reliable for work and as a backup connection. With sign-ups now open, demand will surge again.

How to Get Starlink in Nairobi

To sign up, visit starlink.com and check availability by entering your location in Nairobi. If available, you can order the hardware kit and schedule delivery. Delivery times may vary depending on stock levels and demand.
