Muturi Fired in a Major Cabinet Reshuffle

In a significant cabinet reshuffle announced today, former AG Muturi has been dismissed from his position. The reshuffle also saw several new appointments. Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku nominated as the new CS for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes.

This comes after an iftar dinner where the president was castigating Mr. Muturi. He said that he was incompetent during his time as the attorney general. He said, “I had a problem with the AG who was there before he was fairly incompetent. But now, I have a very competent lady in the position, and I can assure you that the issues of Wakf will be sorted out within months.”

In another development, Hannah Wendot has been nominated as the new Cabinet Secretary. She will be in charge of the ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage. This marks a new leadership direction for the ministry.

Additionally, Aden Duale, who previously held the position of Cabinet Secretary for Defence, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Health. Duale’s move signals a shift in the government’s approach to managing the country’s health sector, as the ministry grapples with ongoing health challenges.

Meanwhile, Deborah Mlongo Barasa will now head the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, bringing a fresh perspective to tackling environmental issues and climate change in the country.

These nominations are subject to parliamentary approval before the nominees can officially assume office. The reshuffle comes as part of ongoing efforts to streamline the government and address emerging national priorities.

Political observers are keenly watching how these new appointments will impact policy direction and governance in the coming months.
