FKF Launches Investigation Against Matasi Match Fixing Claims

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has launched an investigation into match-fixing allegations involving Harambee Stars and Kakamega Homeboyz goalkeeper Patrick Matasi. The inquiry comes after a video surfaced online, seemingly showing Matasi engaged in a discussion about influencing match outcomes.
In the footage, Matasi is seated inside a vehicle, appearing to listen and nod as an unidentified individual talks about possible match-fixing strategies. However, the video’s date and context remain unclear.
In response, FKF issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to upholding the integrity of Kenyan football. The federation announced that an official probe is underway in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and other relevant authorities. FKF emphasized its strict zero-tolerance stance on match manipulation and vowed to protect the credibility of its competitions.
To aid the investigation, FKF has urged individuals with relevant information to come forward and contact them via email. The federation assured that the process would adhere to FIFA guidelines and FKF’s Anti-Match Manipulation Regulations. Which ensure a fair and transparent inquiry that respects the rights of both the player and his club.
Matasi, a seasoned goalkeeper with previous stints at Tusker FC, Posta Rangers FC, and AFC Leopards. He has been a prominent figure in Kenyan football. His most recent national team appearance saw Harambee Stars suffer a 4-1 defeat to Cameroon, a performance that drew scrutiny from fans.
As the investigation progresses, FKF remains steadfast in its mission to uphold fair play and eradicate any form of match-fixing from Kenyan football.
