Machakos detectives have intercepted a Toyota Prado TX allegedly transporting cannabis worth Ksh14.2 million after a dramatic high-speed chase along the Machakos–Kangundo Road. The late-night operation unfolded after the driver defied police orders to stop.
Driver Defies Police Order, Sparks Chase
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), officers from Kyumbi had ordered the vehicle to pull over in the Kaloleni area.
However, the driver ignored the directive and sped off toward Mutituni, forcing detectives to begin a pursuit.

Despite the crash, the occupants managed to flee on foot, abandoning the vehicle at the scene.
Detectives Recover 473.7kg of Cannabis
Once officers secured the area, they conducted a thorough search of the Prado. They discovered 473.7 kilograms of compressed cannabis concealed inside the vehicle.
Machakos County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Kasim Baricha confirmed the seizure and noted that the suspects are still at large.

Meanwhile, detectives have launched an intensified manhunt to track down the fleeing suspects.
Investigators are also working to establish the origin of the narcotics and determine their intended destination, signalling the likelihood of a larger trafficking network.
Ongoing Investigations
