Interns Race for 7,000 PSC Slots as Nationwide Interviews Begin

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has officially launched a nationwide interview exercise to recruit 7,000 interns under the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) Cohort 8. The process began on 1 December 2025 and will run until 6 December 2025.

PSC Shortlists 13,117 Graduates for Interviews

PSC however shortlisted 13,117 candidates from a total of 35,659 applicants who expressed interest in the 2026 internship intake. These shortlisted graduates however, are currently attending interviews at designated centres across the country.

According to PSC, successful applicants will be deployed in January 2026 to various ministries, state departments, and government agencies for a fully paid one-year internship.

The Commission confirmed that all shortlisted interns received official SMS notifications and detailed instructions on the Jobs Portal. Applicants must present their original ID, academic certificates, transcripts, in addition to any other documents listed in their invitation.

Interviews Conducted Across 13 Regional Centres

To ensure accessibility and fairness, PSC dispatched recruitment teams to 13 regional interview centres covering:

Western

Nyanza

Coast

Rift Valley

North Eastern

Eastern

Nairobi

Central

This decentralised approach additionally enables candidates from all parts of the country to attend interviews without long-distance travel.

PSC Offers Telephone Interviews for Remote Applicants

Furthermore, PSC introduced telephone interviews for candidates living in remote or inaccessible areas. This provision ensures that travel challenges do not hinder qualified applicants from participating in the selection process.

PSC noted that the arrangement is meant to promote inclusivity and moreso ensure equal opportunities for all shortlisted interns.

PSC Warns Against Fraudsters

In a public notice, PSC urged applicants to be cautious of individuals claiming they can influence interview outcomes for money. Moreover, the Commission emphasised that the recruitment process is free of charge, and no candidate should pay anyone for assistance.

Internship Designed to Improve Employability

PSC stated that the PSIP internship aims to enhance graduates’ employability by exposing them to the inner workings of public institutions, developing hands-on skills, and additionally strengthening their readiness for the job market.
