UFAA Services Move to Huduma Centres, Making Asset Recovery Easier for Kenyans

The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA) was established to protect forgotten wealth. It operates under the Unclaimed Financial Assets Act, 2011.

Before its creation, many Kenyans lost track of their money. Dormant bank accounts, uncollected dividends, and insurance payouts remained untouched for years. Consequently, billions of shillings stayed idle in financial institutions.

Many families also struggled to trace assets belonging to deceased relatives. Additionally, the claims process felt complicated and centralized in major cities.

As a result, rural residents faced high travel costs and long delays. Therefore, UFAA stepped in to safeguard and reunite these assets with rightful owners.

The authority now acts as trustee of the Unclaimed Assets Trust Fund. Moreover, it enforces compliance among banks, insurers, and listed companies.

UFAA Services Now Available at Huduma Centres

Now, Kenyans can access UFAA services at Huduma Kenya centres nationwide. This partnership brings services closer to the people.

Through over 50 Huduma Centres, citizens can file claims free of charge. Importantly, no extra fees apply when lodging applications.

Huduma Kenya confirmed the rollout on February 25. Officials emphasized their commitment to last-mile service delivery.ufaa

“It’s official. You can now access UFAA services at a Huduma Centre near you,” the agency announced.

How the Move Will Help Kenyans

  • First, the partnership reduces travel expenses for claimants. Previously, many traveled long distances seeking assistance. Now, services sit within reach in major towns and counties.
  • Second, the integration simplifies the verification process. Huduma officers guide applicants through documentation requirements. Therefore, fewer errors delay claims.
  • Third, the move increases public awareness. Many Kenyans remain unaware they own unclaimed financial assets. However, Huduma Centres provide direct engagement and support.

Strengthening Access to Government Services

Since 2013, Huduma Centres have streamlined public service delivery. They offer ID processing, passports, business permits, and tax services. Additionally, select centres provide Judiciary and county government services.

By hosting UFAA desks, the centres expand financial inclusion. Ultimately, this collaboration ensures Kenyans reclaim what rightfully belongs to them.

As awareness grows, more families will recover lost wealth and secure their financial future.
