Babu Owino Ranked Kenya’s Best MP With 80% Approval

On July 1, 2026, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was ranked as Kenya’s best-performing Member of Parliament with an 80% approval rating in the latest Infotrak Research and Consulting survey. Specifically, the nationwide poll evaluated lawmakers based on legislative output, development initiatives, transparency and public visibility.

Furthermore, it covered all 47 counties, 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards, sampling a total of 87,286 respondents through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews.


The Full Top Five Rankings

Babu Owino leads the national rankings at 80%. Specifically, Joseph Kalasinga of Kabuchai follows in second place with 78%. Furthermore, Ndindi Nyoro of Kiharu and John Bwire of Taveta tied for third at 76%.

Additionally, six MPs tied at 73% — Naisula Lesuuda, Didmus Barasa, Reuben Kiborek, Gideon Kimaiyo, Nelson Koech and Gachoki Gichohi. Furthermore, four MPs tied at 72% — Marianne Kitany, Peter Salasya, Jackson Lekumontare and Danson Mwashako.

Babu Overtakes Ndindi Nyoro

The leadership change at the top is significant. Specifically, Babu Owino’s rise to the number one position means he overtook Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who previously led both regional and national performance tiers.

Consequently, this marks a notable shift in the rankings ahead of the 2027 general election cycle.


Other Top Performers

The survey covered more than just MPs. Specifically, Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango emerged as the top-performing Senator with a 69% approval rating.

Furthermore, Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Njeri Maina was named the top-performing Woman Representative in the country.
