Charlene Ruto married Tanzanian entrepreneur Isaya Yunge at a Mwanza wedding on Friday, November 6. President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto joined the celebrations at Malaika Beach Hotel.

The white wedding brought together relatives, friends, political leaders and government officials from Kenya and Tanzania. The Africa Inland Church in Tanzania presided over the religious ceremony as the couple exchanged vows and prayers.

Photographs and videos captured Ruto and Rachel accompanying their daughter down the aisle towards the altar. Charlene wore an elaborate white gown with floral details across the bodice and skirt, alongside a long veil.

Family and leaders attend Mwanza wedding

Ruto wore a deep burgundy jacket with contrasting lapels, a cream shirt and a black bow tie. Rachel, meanwhile, chose a long white dress with burgundy and brown floral patterns.

Yunge complemented the bridal look with a creamy-white suit, white shirt and black patterned tie. Charlene’s siblings Nick, George, June and Nadia also joined the family gathering.

Videos showed Stephanie, June, Nadia and Cullie among the bridesmaids, wearing red gowns. The celebration combined family moments with cultural traditions as guests gathered for the couple’s exchange of vows.

Among the Kenyan leaders attending were National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also attended, alongside their spouses.

Other guests included Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga. Government and opposition figures joined relatives and friends at the celebration.

Wedding portraits and earlier Koito ceremony

For her official wedding portraits, Charlene chose a different outfit: a white midi dress with delicate cap sleeves. She paired it with a long lace-trimmed veil, statement gold earrings, a diamond ring and a wristwatch.

Her white heels featured tulle bows, while she held a small bouquet of baby’s breath flowers. A white satin ribbon tied the bouquet together, and Yunge wore a cream suit for the portraits.

The white wedding followed the couple’s traditional Kalenjin engagement ceremony, known as Koito, in August 2026. That earlier celebration took place at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.
