Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will lead Kenya’s delegation as the country seeks financial reforms, climate funding and investment partnerships.

Kenya will push for international financial reforms and fair access to climate funding at CHOGM 2026. The 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting takes place in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, from November 1–4.

Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei said Kenya would champion Africa’s interests in the discussions. Its priorities include sustainable development, climate finance and changes to the international financial system.

Sing’oei has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda ahead of the summit. Meanwhile, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will lead the Kenyan delegation, representing President William Ruto.

Kenya will also seek partnerships that support its development priorities, Sing’oei said. Its climate financing push will focus on equitable access for developing countries.

CHOGM 2026 investment priorities

Beyond the financial reform agenda, Kenya will pursue opportunities in skills development, entrepreneurship and digital opportunities. The government will place particular emphasis on young people and women as it seeks those partnerships.

Kenya also expects to use business and investment engagements to promote projects across several sectors. These include infrastructure, energy, tourism, technology and the blue economy.

The summit’s theme is “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth.” It brings together leaders from 56 member states, which collectively represent approximately 2.7 billion people.

For Kenya, the agenda combines Africa’s financial reform priorities with a search for development partnerships. Its planned engagements span both financial policy discussions and opportunities to attract investment into key sectors.
