Education PS John Ololtuaa urges parents to guide candidates and offer emotional support during the national examination period.
Education Principal Secretary John Ololtuaa has warned candidates against exam cheating as national examinations begin across Kenya. He urged parents and guardians to help their children follow examination rules.
Speaking at a church fundraiser in Kilgoris, Narok County, on Sunday, Ololtuaa said the government would not tolerate malpractice. He warned that candidates who break examination laws would face legal action.
The PS said the government had introduced strict measures to protect the integrity of national examinations. He also urged parents to counsel candidates against cheating and provide psychological support throughout the examination period.
Parents urged to help prevent exam cheating
Ololtuaa stressed that successful examinations depend on parents as well as the government. He therefore called on families to help candidates understand and comply with examination regulations.
Meanwhile, the PS praised teachers, parents and security agencies for supporting the smooth administration of two national assessments. The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior Education Assessment (KJSEA) concluded last week.
He said both assessments had run successfully, with marking expected to begin in the coming days. Ololtuaa also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a credible, fair and transparent examination process.
To support that effort, he urged all stakeholders to cooperate with education authorities. The government has maintained heightened vigilance against cheating, paper leaks and other forms of examination malpractice.
