Former Miss Universe Jamaica Gabrielle Henry has sued the Miss Universe Organisation over her dramatic stage fall in Bangkok.
Henry filed the lawsuit on September 21, 2026, in Delaware Superior Court in the United States.
She named the Miss Universe Organisation, JKN Legacy Inc. and Legacy Holding Group USA as defendants.
The lawsuit includes claims of negligence, premises liability and negligent supervision. It also includes claims involving emotional distress.
Henry Details Five-Foot Stage Fall
The incident happened on November 19, 2025, during the preliminary competition.
According to the lawsuit, Henry followed rehearsed choreography before falling about five feet through an uncovered stage opening.
She alleges the opening contained lighting equipment and concrete.
Henry also claims bright stage lights affected her ability to see the stage edges.
The fall left her unconscious and caused serious head injuries, according to the complaint.
She remained hospitalised in Bangkok from November 19 to December 10, 2025.
The lawsuit says her injuries have continued affecting her physically and cognitively.
Lawsuit Claims Safety Concerns Were Raised
Henry also alleges that contestants had raised concerns about the stage and lighting before her fall.
The complaint claims organisers failed to address those concerns adequately.
It further alleges that additional lighting appeared around the stage edges after the accident.
However, these remain allegations contained in Henry’s lawsuit and have not been proven in court.
Miss Universe Organisation Gives Different Account
The Miss Universe Organisation has disputed aspects of Henry’s claims.
The organisation said it had not been formally served with the lawsuit. Therefore, it said it could not comment fully on claims it had not reviewed.
However, the organisation said local production partners handled the venue, stage and on-site safety.
It identified Miss Grand International and Miss Universe Thailand as the host and production entities.
The organisation also said it paid Henry’s hospital and specialised treatment expenses.
It further said it offered her a goodwill ambassador role after the incident.
Court Case Now Puts Safety Questions in Focus
Henry’s lawsuit now places the circumstances surrounding the accident before the courts.
Her complaint alleges unsafe conditions contributed to the fall.
Meanwhile, the Miss Universe Organisation points to the responsibilities of local production partners.
The court process will determine how the competing claims are addressed.
