George Ruto, the son of President William Ruto, has unveiled six customised matatus under the 98 Logistics brand in Nairobi.

The launch took place on Friday, September 18, 2026, marking another expansion of the transport venture associated with George Ruto and the 98 Sacco.

Six New Matatus Hit the Road

The six vehicles underwent extensive modifications before their commissioning. Footage from the launch showed the matatus arriving in Nairobi’s CBD in a convoy, attracting attention from pedestrians and matatu enthusiasts.

The vehicles feature bold 98 Logistics branding, customised lighting, graphic wraps and powerful sound systems. The design follows Kenya’s popular nganya culture, which combines public transport with entertainment and distinctive vehicle customization.

98 Sacco and Raptor Family

The launch follows the establishment of 98 Matatu Sacco in June 2026. The Sacco has been associated with George Ruto’s growing Raptor Family fleet, which includes vehicles such as Raptor, Money Fest, Matrix, Mood, Baba Yaga and Manifest.

The vehicles have gained attention for their high-end designs and entertainment features. Reports have also linked the fleet to Nairobi routes including Embakasi and Ongata Rongai.

GK Explains His Matatu Investment

Speaking in an interview published on September 19, George said his interest in the matatu industry dates back to his high school years.

He also said creating employment opportunities for young people motivated his investment in the sector. George said he launched 17 vehicles in total, with one launched in 2025 and 16 launched in 2026.

Faith and the New Fleet

The commissioning also included a prayer session before the vehicles hit the road. George invited preachers to the fabrication facility, where they prayed over and anointed the new matatus.

The fleet later left the facility for fuelling before entering Nairobi’s roads.

Growing Presence

The six new vehicles expand the 98 brand’s presence in Nairobi’s competitive public transport sector. They also add to the growing popularity of customized nganyas, particularly among young Nairobi commuters and matatu enthusiasts.

For George Ruto, the latest launch marks another step in developing his transport investment while creating employment opportunities within the sector.
