Trump’s Drowsy Look Raises Eyebrows

Cameras Capture Trump With Eyes Closed

Former US President Donald Trump mocked Joe Biden for years as “Sleepy Joe.” Yet on Tuesday, Trump struggled to keep his eyes open during a high-profile cabinet meeting.
The 79-year-old, the oldest person ever elected US president, repeatedly closed his eyes as cabinet members praised his leadership.

The moment revived questions about his health, even as Trump and his aides continue to dismiss speculation.

White House Pushes Back

The White House immediately rejected claims that Trump fell asleep.

“President Trump was listening attentively and running the entire three-hour marathon meeting,” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement to AFP.

She pointed to Trump’s fiery closing remarks on Somali immigrants as proof that he remained fully alert.

Trump Insists He’s in Top Shape

Earlier in the meeting, Trump brushed off concerns about his stamina.

“You always find something new. ‘Is he in good health?’” he told reporters, calling them “crazy.”
He repeated his familiar claim of having “aced” a cognitive test and insisted: “I’m sharper than I was 25 years ago.”

But minutes later, Trump closed his eyes for long stretches, even as Secretary of State Marco Rubio—seated beside him—called him the “only leader in the world” capable of ending the Ukraine war.

Pattern of Fatigue Raises Questions

The episode came less than a month after Trump appeared to nod off during an Oval Office event on drug prices.
It also followed a New York Times report noting his reduced travel, fewer public events, and shorter workdays compared to his first term.

Trump blasted the article as a “hit piece,” while Leavitt accused the media of ignoring Biden’s age-related issues during his presidency.

Global Focus Turns Back to Trump’s Health

Pressure continues to mount. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel aired clips of Trump with his eyes shut, mocking him: “Tell us again how sleepy Joe is.”
Social media users also questioned whether Trump was exhausted after posting more than 160 Truth Social updates within 24 hours—though aides often handle some posts.

Critics argue Trump has a long history of limiting transparency about his medical status.

Doctor Confirms MRI and ‘Excellent’ Heart Health

After questions resurfaced about an October hospital visit involving an MRI, Trump’s doctor said the “preventative” exam showed “excellent” cardiovascular health.

Still, with Trump turning 80 in June, scrutiny over his fitness for office shows no sign of easing.
