NACADA officers arrested a suspected trafficker and seized 700 rolls containing suspected narcotic substances during a Machakos drug raid. The intelligence-led operation targeted a homestead in Mbiuni, Mwala Sub-County.

Other recoveries included 73 white-top Rizla papers, 44 brown Rizla papers and a pair of blue-handled scissors. Officers believed some of the recovered materials served as drug-packaging supplies.

The team labelled and secured all exhibits before escorting the suspect to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Police Station. Police will carry out further processing there as inquiries continue.

Machakos drug raid highlights intelligence-sharing

NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr Anthony Omerikwa praised the officers involved in the operation. He said intelligence-sharing and cooperation among security agencies played an important role in tackling drug trafficking.

Omerikwa also reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to breaking up drug distribution networks and keeping illicit substances out of communities. He described the operation as evidence of the multi-agency team’s determination to tackle the trade.

Meanwhile, he warned that NACADA would continue pursuing people involved in drug trafficking alongside communities and security agencies. He said those profiting from drugs at the expense of young people would face legal action.

The case remains under investigation, with NACADA officers pursuing further inquiries into the suspected trafficking operation.
