CCTV Captures All-Female Shoplifting Gang Targeting Eastleigh Store
Eastleigh Businesses on High Alert After CCTV Footage Emerges
EASTLEIGH, NAIROBI – Eastleigh business owners remain alarmed after CCTV footage exposed a coordinated shoplifting operation in January 2026.
The widely shared video shows an all-female gang executing a calculated theft inside a busy retail outlet.
As a result, traders across the commercial hub have increased vigilance and security reviews.
According to the footage, the suspects entered the store appearing like ordinary shoppers. However, investigators noted clear coordination and pre-planned roles among the women.
They moved confidently through aisles while monitoring staff movements.
Use of the “Skirt” Concealment Method
Notably, the suspects employed a concealment tactic commonly known as the “skirt” method. They picked merchandise and quickly hid items beneath long skirts or inside sewn pockets. Consequently, staff members failed to notice the missing goods in real time.
Meanwhile, other gang members distracted shop attendants with frequent questions and negotiations. This diversion allowed accomplices to conceal items without drawing attention. Therefore, the theft continued uninterrupted for several minutes.
After securing the items, the group exited the store calmly and without confrontation. Later, staff discovered the loss during routine stock checks.
Subsequent CCTV review confirmed the organized nature of the theft.
Rising Insecurity Raises Fresh Concerns
This incident highlights a growing pattern of insecurity within Eastleigh. Previously, another gang used a branded vehicle to rob women during nighttime hours.
Similarly, those crimes were also captured on surveillance cameras.
In response, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations intensified operations in Kamukunji and Starehe. Authorities aim to dismantle organized theft networks operating across Nairobi. Additionally, police urged the public to report suspicious behavior promptly.
Business Owners Urged to Strengthen Security
Local business associations now advise traders to upgrade surveillance systems. They also recommend staff training on identifying coordinated shoplifting behaviors. Ultimately, vigilance remains crucial in preventing similar incidents.
