CCTV Footage Identifies Getaway Car in Murder of Boda Boda Rider Anthony Otieno

Detectives investigating the brutal murder of boda boda rider Anthony Otieno have identified the getaway vehicle used by the suspects, following a detailed review of CCTV footage from the building where he was killed.

Suspects Seen Escaping in Nissan Note

Exclusive CCTV clips obtained by detectives show two key suspects fleeing the scene in a Nissan Note, registration KDL 336E. In the footage, Otieno is first seen arriving at the Meridian building, entering the elevator and heading to the fourth floor. He makes a phone call, seemingly trying to locate the client he was delivering a package to. He is also seen carrying a blue bag containing the delivery.

Moments later, a man exits the room via the staircase, holding the same bag. At 12:02pm, a second individual rushes down the stairs, followed quickly by a third half-naked man carrying a package. The three appear visibly shaken as they hurriedly zip the bag.

A short while later, the Nissan Note pulls up. Two of the suspects board the vehicle, leaving behind a woman in a cap who is handed the suspects’ luggage.

CCTV Footage Traces Suspects’ Movements a Day Earlier

Rewound footage from November 16 at 7:22am shows one suspect entering the building with the same blue bag, accompanied by another man. At 1pm, they are joined by a woman wearing an outfit later identified as the same one worn by one of the suspects the following day.

On November 17 at 6:46pm, the woman is again captured leaving the building with the same bag using the elevator.

Landlady Discovers Body After Suspicious Activity

The rented room where Otieno was murdered belongs to Charity Muthoni Michoki. In her statement, she said she received a call from 0108577041 requesting to rent the room for a month.

On November 18 at 9:30am, she received a message from the guests claiming they would settle their bill by 4pm. During her routine inspection, she encountered one of the men, who told her to wait until evening. Growing suspicious, Michoki remained near the building.

She later spotted the men leaving with a bag. When they failed to pay, she confronted them and confiscated the bag. She then proceeded to check the room.

Inside, she found the door locked. After unlocking it, she discovered blood stains on the floor. Alarmed, she called neighbours. Together, they found a man’s body hidden under the bed, his hands and feet tied with rope and a piece of cloth stuffed in his mouth.

The deceased was later identified as the delivery agent who had brought the suspects an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Detectives Pursuing Main Suspects

Investigators are now working to identify the two men who rented the room and establish the circumstances that led to Otieno’s killing. Forensic teams are conducting toxicology tests and analysing additional CCTV footage to piece together the suspects’ movements.

So far, detectives have interrogated three people, including Otieno’s wife—who had sold the phone through WhatsApp—and the landlady. The phone shop owner is also expected to record a statement.

Murder Happened Near Previous Killing Site

This latest incident occurred just metres from the location where Starlet Wahu Mwangi was murdered earlier this year, raising further alarm about rising insecurity around the area.
