Kisii Family Appeals for Help to Repatriate Daughter’s Body from Iraq

Family Seeks Support
A family from Bogeka Mariba village in Kitutu Chache, Kisii County, is appealing for assistance. Moreover, they need Ksh800,000 to repatriate their daughter’s body from Baghdad, Iraq.

Felista’s Sudden Demise
The deceased, 32-year-old Felista Kemunto, passed away after falling ill while working as a domestic worker. Additionally, she had spent three years in Baghdad before her condition worsened.

Mother’s Painful Recollection
Her mother recalled noticing impaired speech and swelling before Felista’s death. Consequently, she urged her daughter to seek treatment, but Felista insisted on waiting until returning home.

Planned Return Cut Short
Felista was scheduled to travel back on January 4, 2026. However, her health deteriorated days earlier, leaving her family devastated.

Financial Struggles
The family has raised only Ksh50,000 through local contributions. Furthermore, her employer warned that cremation may occur if funds are not paid within two months.

Father’s Plea
Felista’s father displayed a contribution book showing donations received. He emphasized the urgency, noting the family cannot raise Ksh800,000 alone.

Appeal to Authorities
The family appealed to government officials for support. Nevertheless, they claim no authority has visited or offered assistance since the matter was raised.
