Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho Dies After Illness, Nation Mourns Veteran Legislator
Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho has passed away. He died on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the time, he was receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed the news shortly after his passing. He stated that Kiaraho had battled illness for some time. Additionally, the MP had sought specialized treatment both locally and abroad.
Distinguished Political Career
David Kiaraho served as Ol Kalou MP for three consecutive terms. He first won the seat in 2013 and secured re-election in 2017 and 2022. Therefore, he remained a key political figure in Nyandarua County for over a decade.
Moreover, he belonged to the Jubilee Party. Notably, he emerged among the few Jubilee candidates who won seats in the former Central Province during the 2022 General Election. Consequently, his victory highlighted his strong grassroots support.
Active Role in Parliament
During his tenure, Kiaraho actively contributed to parliamentary work. He served in the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure. In addition, he worked in the Procedure and House Rules Committee.

Following his passing, leaders have moved quickly to organize funeral plans. Authorities appointed a nine-member committee to oversee burial arrangements. Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku chairs the committee, alongside Nyandarua MP Faith Gitau.
