President Ruto Confirms April 2026 Completion for Bomas of Kenya Centre
President William Ruto announced that the Bomas of Kenya International Conference Centre will be completed by April 2026. Consequently, the facility will start hosting events a month later.
France Africa Summit to Be First Event
The president revealed that the first conference, the France Africa Summit, is scheduled for May 2026. Moreover, the centre is already booked for the event.
Announcement Made During National Wildlife Census Launch
Ruto shared the update while launching the 2025 National Wildlife Census Report at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC). He emphasized the project’s national significance.
Facility Marks 25-Year National Vision
“The Bomas of Kenya International Conference Centre has been a national plan for 25 years,” Ruto said. Furthermore, he confirmed the project will be East and Central Africa’s largest conference venue.
Modernizing Kenya’s Conference Infrastructure
The president noted that refurbishing Bomas will replace KICC, which no longer meets modern conference standards. As a result, Nairobi will gain a state-of-the-art venue.
Economic and Regional Impact
Ruto highlighted that the new facility will boost the economy and position Nairobi as a leading destination for major conferences.
Project Features and Capacity
The Ksh31.5 billion project covers over 323,500 square metres. It will feature two auditoriums, a banquet hall, hotels, and a presidential hall. Additionally, it will accommodate more than 10,000 people.
Supporting Infrastructure
Moreover, the centre will include a police post and a self-sustaining clinic to serve visitors and the local community year-round.
