Road Accidents Claim 13 Lives on New Year’s Day

Deadly Crash in Nyakach
At least 11 people died after a vehicle lost control at Katito Kaliech stage in Nyakach. Moreover, three victims sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention.

Second Collision at Pap Onditi
A pickup truck veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Toyota Hiace matatu. Consequently, one person died at the scene, while 21 others sustained injuries.

Emergency Response Activated
Kisumu County Emergency Operations Centre received a distress call at 2:57pm. Additionally, four ambulances were dispatched from Nyakach, Masogo, Rabuor, and Nyangande to evacuate victims.

Victims Stabilized and Transferred
The injured were stabilized at Nyakach County Hospital. Later, they were transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for further treatment.

Burnt Forest Accident Reported
In a separate incident near Burnt Forest, a trailer’s container dislodged and crashed into a Toyota Voxy. As a result, two people died instantly, while one victim sustained serious injuries.

Police and emergency responders urged motorists to exercise caution on highways during the festive season. Furthermore, they emphasized strict adherence to traffic rules to prevent further tragedies.
