Men Virginity Is Rising Faster Than Women Virginity

Over the past decade, the share of men under 30 reporting no sexual activity has risen sharply. By 2018, the number had nearly tripled compared to ten years earlier. Researchers attribute the shift to several factors. More young men are living with their parents and spending more time on social media and gaming. At the same time, broader changes in dating and relationships are reshaping how people connect.

Data from the General Social Survey shows that about 23% of Millennials aged 18 to 30 said they had not had sex in the previous year. The jump among young men was especially striking. In 2008, roughly 10% reported no sexual activity; a decade later, that figure had climbed to 28%. Young women also saw an increase, though a more modest one.

Experts say there is no single explanation. Instead, the trend appears to reflect a combination of social, cultural, and technological changes that are reshaping intimacy, lifestyle patterns, and how young people connect with one another.
