Pastor Jamal Bryant criticised Nicki Minaj’s response to Trump’s rally remark.
The Atlanta pastor questioned Minaj’s response to Trump’s sexually suggestive remark, prompting debate over dignity and political choice.
Nicki Minaj criticism has intensified after Atlanta pastor Jamal Bryant challenged her response to a sexually suggestive remark by US President Donald Trump. Bryant raised the issue during a Sunday service at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, which he leads.
The incident occurred at a campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on October 25, 2026. Minaj joined Trump at the event, wearing a gold Gucci outfit.
While introducing her, Trump made a crude comment about her body before asking her to stand. Minaj then stood and voiced support for his political agenda.
Bryant questioned why the rapper had not publicly challenged Trump over the comment. He argued that political loyalty should not come at the expense of personal dignity, particularly for Black women.
Nicki Minaj criticism sparks divided reactions
Bryant maintained that authority gives no one the right to publicly objectify a Black woman’s body or appearance. He also compared Minaj’s conduct to the Aunt Jemima pancake-selling stereotype, suggesting she had traded self-respect and cultural standing for political approval.
His comments drew competing reactions on social media. Some users supported the pastor for challenging the objectification of Black women.
Others, however, defended Minaj’s right to choose her political affiliations and support the causes she favoured. Their responses focused on her freedom to back Trump, rather than Bryant’s argument about dignity.
Meanwhile, some critics questioned Bryant’s own standing to lecture the rapper about personal conduct. They pointed to his past controversies as the debate expanded beyond Minaj’s rally appearance.
