Jalang’o Enters Nairobi Senate Race, Questions Sifuna’s Record

Lang’ata MP Felix Oduor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has officially declared his intention to run for Nairobi Senator in 2027. He revealed the plan during an interview with Radio 47.

He said confidence in his first-term performance pushed him to seek a broader leadership role. According to Jalang’o, his experience in Lang’ata proves he can supervise county resources effectively.

Although he believes he can vie for any elective seat, including governor, he chose the Senate for its oversight power. He argued that proper supervision can significantly improve Nairobi’s service delivery.

Consequently, he wants to scale what he describes as Lang’ata’s progress to the entire county. He framed his Senate bid as a mission focused on governance and accountability.

Focus on Nairobi’s Core Challenges

Moreover, he stressed that these sectors require constant monitoring and transparent leadership. He believes effective oversight can unlock better use of public funds.

Therefore, he promised to push for measurable outcomes if elected. He said the Senate must act as a strong watchdog for city resources.

Criticism of Incumbent Leadership

At the same time, Jalang’o questioned the oversight record of current Senator Edwin Sifuna. While he acknowledged Sifuna’s political strengths, he faulted his performance in supervision.

He argued that Nairobi residents need louder advocacy in the Senate. He publicly asked when major city concerns were last addressed with urgency.

Nevertheless, he maintained respect for Sifuna as a party colleague. He added that party loyalty should never replace accountability.Sifuna

ODM Ticket and Political Positioning

Jalang’o confirmed he will seek the seat on an ODM ticket. He expressed confidence in winning the party nomination. Additionally, he dismissed claims of outside political backing. He insisted the decision is personal and driven by voter trust.

He also rejected criticism about seeking higher office after one term. According to him, no law limits political ambition.

Ultimately, he pledged to center his campaign on direct voter engagement and practical solutions for Nairobi residents.
