Eric Omondi Starts 486km Nairobi to Mombasa “Walk of Love” Charity Trek
Comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has officially launched a 486-kilometre charity walk from Nairobi to Mombasa, a five-day trek aimed at raising funds for a permanent Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre.
Dubbed the “Walk of Love,” the journey began at Nyayo National Stadium at 6:00am, with Omondi and a growing group of supporters setting off on what is expected to be one of the most physically demanding fundraising campaigns by a Kenyan public figure in recent years.
Star-Studded Send-Off in Nairobi
The early morning send-off drew several prominent names, underlining the national attention the trek has attracted.
Media personality Carol Radull joined Omondi at the starting line and pledged to walk with him during the opening stages. Comedian Churchill (Daniel Ndambuki), journalist Jeff Koinange, and rapper Khaligraph Jones have also thrown their weight behind the initiative, using their platforms to encourage Kenyans to donate.
What the Walk Is Raising Money For
At the heart of the campaign is Omondi’s plan to establish a Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre, which he describes as a one-stop community hub meant to strengthen and professionalise his charity work.
The proposed centre will include:
- A clinic and two ambulances for emergency response
- A free secondary school for vulnerable learners
- A large warehouse for storing donated supplies, including food and building materials
Omondi’s Sisi Kwa Sisi movement began in 2024 and has since raised over KSh 72 million, helping Kenyans cover medical bills, school fees, and housing costs.
The Plan: 100km+ Per Day
Organisers say the group will walk daily from 6:00am to 6:00pm, covering roughly 100 to 120 kilometres per day.
If the schedule holds, the trek will end on February 14 (Valentine’s Day) at Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa. Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has pledged to join the team for the final stretch.
How to Donate
Kenyans can follow the walk live on social media and contribute through:
- Paybill: 522533
- Account: 9991655
- Name: Sisi Kwa Sisi Walk With Me
Speaking before departure, Omondi said the timing of the trek was intentional.
“This is a walk of love because we are doing this during Valentine’s,” he said. “It’s about Kenyans coming together and lifting each other up.”
