DonPesa Events will bring Mbosso, Bensoul, Iyanii, Njerae, Watendawili and Dyana Cods together at Al Capone Lounge.

Tanzanian Bongo Flava singer Mbosso Khan will headline the inaugural Warm Up Series concert at Nairobi’s Al Capone Lounge. Kenyan musicians Bensoul, Iyanii, Njerae, Watendawili and Dyana Cods will also perform.

DonPesa Events is organising the showcase, bringing together East African acts for an evening of live music. Doors will open at 6pm, with entertainment expected to continue late into the night.

The Nairobi lineup pairs Mbosso’s romantic Bongo Flava ballads with performances from five Kenyan acts. The Tanzanian singer’s releases include Hodari, Nadekezwa and Watakubali, which helped establish his solo career across the region.

Warm Up Series headliner’s journey from Yamoto Band

Born Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi in Kibiti, Tanzania, Mbosso gained prominence with Yamoto Band in the mid-2010s. He performed as Maromboso alongside Aslay, Beka Flavour and Enock Bella.

The group built its following through tracks including Nitakupwelepweta and Cheza Kwa Madoido. However, Yamoto Band disbanded in 2017, and Mbosso briefly returned to his hometown.

He then joined Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi label in early 2018 and began his solo career. His early singles attracted millions of online views, while his romantic ballads earned him regional recognition.

Mbosso later released his debut album, Definition of Love, in 2021, followed by the Khan EP in 2022. Other popular songs, including Pawa, Tamu, Maajab, Sina Nyota and Sele, have also strengthened his East African following.
