Police Arrest Over 20 in Juja Cult Shrine Raid

Police in Juja conducted a major security operation between March 14 and 15, 2026. The crackdown followed intelligence reports about illegal activities in the area.

Although online searches mentioned a person named “Keda Muiyuro,” authorities have not confirmed such an arrest.

However, police confirmed several arrests connected to a suspected cult shrine. The operation has raised fresh concerns about illegal religious practices in the region.

Police Raid Suspected Cult Shrine

Security officers raided a suspected cult shrine in Juja Sub-County on March 14, 2026. During the operation, police arrested more than twenty suspects. Authorities believe the group engaged in harmful cultural practices.

Investigators also suspect the shrine facilitated illegal activities involving minors. Among the concerns raised is the alleged practice of Female Genital Mutilation. FGM remains illegal in Kenya under strict national laws.

Therefore, authorities acted quickly after receiving credible intelligence reports. Police officers also recovered materials believed to be linked to the group’s activities.

Meanwhile, detectives continue questioning the suspects to determine their roles.

Investigations Continue as Suspects Remain in Custody

The security operation was led by Sub-County Police Commander Bernard Ngungu. He confirmed that several suspects remain in police custody.

Investigators are now reviewing evidence collected during the raid. Additionally, officers are interviewing witnesses from surrounding communities. Authorities want to establish whether the group recruited members locally.

They also aim to identify the leaders behind the suspected cult activities. Consequently, police expect more developments as investigations progress. Officials have urged residents to report suspicious activities within their neighborhoods.keda

Previous Legal Controversies in Juja Politics

Meanwhile, Juja has also experienced political controversies in recent months. For instance, area legislator George Koimburi has faced several legal challenges.

In July 2025, authorities issued a warrant over alleged staged abduction claims. Investigators accused the MP of faking his own kidnapping. According to authorities, the alleged incident aimed to derail a land fraud investigation.

Earlier in 2025, Koimburi also faced allegations of certificate forgery. Additionally, police questioned him over remarks related to government spending. However, these legal issues remain separate from the recent Juja cult arrests.

Authorities Urge Public Vigilance

Security agencies have encouraged residents to cooperate with investigators. Officials say community support remains crucial in preventing illegal practices.

Furthermore, authorities continue monitoring religious and cultural gatherings in the region. They emphasize that freedom of worship must not violate Kenyan law.

Consequently, police will take action against groups promoting harmful activities. As investigations continue, residents await further updates from law enforcement.
