Cristiano Ronaldo has left Portugal’s training camp in Copenhagen ahead of the Nations League clash against Denmark. The 41-year-old captain departed shortly after head coach Jorge Jesus confirmed he would not start Thursday’s match. Ronaldo later said he would reveal the reasons behind his decision at a later stage.

The dramatic development follows Ronaldo’s frustration after remaining an unused substitute during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway. The veteran forward spent about 30 minutes warming up but never entered the match, despite Portugal eventually securing the win.

Ronaldo Leaves Portugal Training Camp

Ronaldo was expected to join his teammates for training in Copenhagen. However, he left the camp after Jesus addressed the media about his selection for the Denmark match. The Portuguese Football Federation later confirmed his departure and said preparations would continue with the remaining 24 players.

Ronaldo reportedly held a conversation with federation president Pedro Proença before leaving the camp. He later confirmed his decision through a social media statement, saying he would eventually explain what prompted his departure from the national team.

Jorge Jesus Drops Ronaldo for Denmark

Jesus had already confirmed that Ronaldo would not start against Denmark. Instead, Gonçalo Ramos is expected to lead Portugal’s attack after impressing during recent international fixtures.

The decision followed Ronaldo’s unused substitute appearance against Norway. Portugal won 2-1, while Ronaldo watched from the bench after warming up for around 30 minutes. Jesus acknowledged that the veteran striker was unhappy but denied any serious confrontation between them.

The Portugal coach also defended his selection decisions, making it clear that Ronaldo would only enter against Denmark if he believed the team needed him.

Ronaldo Promises to Reveal the Truth

Ronaldo’s departure has raised fresh questions about his relationship with the new Portugal coach. However, the Al Nassr forward has not announced his retirement from international football.

In his statement, Ronaldo said his decision followed Jesus’ press conference and his conversation with the federation president. He also wished Portugal and his teammates success before promising to explain the circumstances surrounding his exit.

Portugal Faces Denmark Without Ronaldo

Portugal will now prepare for Denmark without its captain as the team continues its Nations League campaign. Gonçalo Ramos is expected to spearhead the attack, while Ronaldo’s absence adds another major storyline to the fixture.

For now, Ronaldo’s next move remains unclear. His promised explanation could provide more details about his departure and what it means for his future with Portugal.
