KPC, NCPWD, KCB and M-PESA will coordinate recruitment for learners entering Grade 10 in 2027, while each provider retains its selection role.

Four organisations have joined forces to simplify disability scholarship applications for learners entering Grade 10 in 2027. The initiative aims to reduce paperwork, travel costs and repeated applications for families seeking education funding.

The partners are the KPC Foundation, National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), KCB Foundation and M-PESA Foundation. Together, they will coordinate recruitment through shared county-level structures and joint awareness campaigns.

Coordinating disability scholarship applications

The arrangement introduces a common assessment and vetting framework for participating scholarship providers. It also seeks to reduce the need for families to submit separate applications to different organisations.

The partners say coordination will make beneficiary selection more transparent and help them reach more eligible learners nationwide. By sharing resources during recruitment, they also aim to avoid duplicating work across their programmes.

Speaking at the launch, KPC Foundation Manager Rachel Gathoni said the partnership would ease access to secondary education. She explained that families should face fewer application demands and avoid unnecessary travel expenses.

Gathoni also said the organisations would combine their resources and networks to address barriers to education support. In addition, she said a unified process would promote fairness for learners who might otherwise struggle with complicated procedures.

Providers retain final selection decisions

However, the common recruitment framework does not transfer final selection decisions to a single body. Each organisation will continue to select and enrol beneficiaries for its own scholarship programme.

After the joint assessment, providers will independently decide which applicants qualify for their support. Those decisions will depend on scholarship allocations, programme requirements and the resources each organisation has available.

The collaboration therefore focuses on shared application and assessment work, while preserving each provider’s responsibility for awards.

Application dates remain unspecified

The announcement did not specify application dates, eligibility criteria or how many learners the initiative would support.

For families preparing for the 2027 transition, the stated goal is a more accessible route to scholarship consideration. The partners aim to ease administrative demands so learners can focus on their next stage of education.
