Detectives arrested Ikanga/Kyatune MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka on Mfangano Street as they investigated three alleged phone thefts.

Detectives arrested Kitui MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka in Nairobi on Friday over phone theft claims in the Central Business District. Musyoka represents Ikanga/Kyatune Ward in the Kitui County Assembly.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Kamukunji Police Station carried out the operation along Mfangano Street. The DCI said they acted on information linking the ward representative to the alleged crimes.

DCI investigates three phone theft claims

The DCI said investigators were examining three separate mobile phone theft incidents reported in August and September 2026. Detectives also said CCTV footage from the scenes helped them identify Musyoka.

Following the intelligence, officers located and arrested him on Mfangano Street. He remains in police custody while detectives complete processing ahead of his court appearance.

The allegations remain unproven. The arrest does not establish guilt, and the courts will determine the case.

Outstanding warrant in separate stealing case

Meanwhile, the DCI said Musyoka also had an outstanding arrest warrant relating to a separate criminal case. The agency identified the matter as Criminal Case No. 112/303/2024 at Makadara Law Courts.

According to the DCI, Musyoka had previously secured release on bond after facing a stealing charge. However, he later failed to attend court, prompting the outstanding warrant.

The earlier court matter is separate from the three phone theft incidents now under investigation. The DCI also said it would continue pursuing suspects regardless of their political or social standing.
