Comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi has received prayers at Deliverance Church Karen ahead of his planned campaign for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
Omondi attended the church service on Sunday, November 1, 2026, where a pastor prayed for his political ambitions and urged him to pursue leadership with humility.
The visit comes as the comedian increasingly turns his activism and community initiatives towards elective politics.
Pastor Urges Eric Omondi to Pursue Leadership
During the service, the pastor encouraged Omondi to pursue the parliamentary seat, describing leadership as a calling that requires responsibility and service.
He argued that people committed to serving the public should consider seeking elective positions rather than leaving leadership to others.
The pastor also urged Omondi to prioritise ordinary Kenyans, particularly the poor and vulnerable. He called for leadership that promotes equality, unity and accountability while rejecting corruption and tribalism.
Omondi Receives Prayers for Guidance
Omondi knelt as the pastor and members of the congregation prayed over him. The prayer focused on humility, divine guidance and the responsibility that comes with public office. The pastor also suggested that the Lang’ata parliamentary seat could open the door to greater leadership responsibilities in the future.
The pastor cautioned Omondi against buying votes, urging him to seek support from voters rather than relying on financial inducements.

Lang’ata Seat Race Takes Shape Ahead of 2027
Omondi’s political ambitions have attracted attention as several figures position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
In January 2026, the comedian announced plans to seek elective office, although he did not initially specify the seat.
He has since drawn attention through his activism and philanthropic initiatives, including efforts focused on young people and vulnerable Kenyans.
The Lang’ata parliamentary seat is currently held by Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o. Other aspirants have also expressed interest in contesting the constituency in 2027.
Omondi’s church visit marks another public step towards his political ambitions. However, the service itself does not constitute a formal campaign launch, and further details about his campaign arrangements remain to be confirmed.
