Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has arrived in Dallas, Texas, as his extended United States tour enters another phase.
Gachagua arrived in Dallas on September 25, 2026, accompanied by his spouse, Rev. Dorcas Rigathi. The former Deputy President is using the tour to meet Kenyans living in the United States and discuss issues concerning Kenya’s political and economic future.
Gachagua Welcomed With ‘I Love Wamunyoro’ Sign
Gachagua received a warm welcome from members of the Kenyan community after arriving in Dallas. Among the highlights was an “I ❤️ WAMUNYORO” sign presented by Kenyans at a local residence.
The sign mirrored the branding associated with his Wamunyoro home in Mathira. Gachagua described Dallas as his “home away from home” while thanking Kenyans for the reception.
Dallas Follows Spokane, Portland and Kansas
Dallas is the latest stop on Gachagua’s extended US tour. According to the itinerary released by DCP, the tour includes engagements in Spokane, Portland, Kansas, Dallas and Boston.
He began the political and diaspora engagements in Spokane before moving to Portland and later Kansas. He is scheduled to remain in Dallas until October 1, before travelling to Boston for the final leg of the tour.
During the tour, Gachagua has met Kenyans living abroad through community gatherings and other engagements. The former Deputy President has previously said the US trip would also give him time to reflect and make political decisions away from what he described as undue influence from political associates.
Diaspora Engagements Ahead of 2027
Gachagua’s US tour comes as political activity builds ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Election. His diaspora engagements have included discussions about Kenya’s future and the role of Kenyans living abroad.
Reports from earlier stops indicate that some diaspora supporters have also raised questions about opposition unity and the process of selecting a presidential candidate ahead of 2027.
Gachagua has previously said he is considering his political options while continuing to build networks through DCP. His Dallas visit is expected to continue that engagement with Kenyans in the United States.
