Kenyan street model Ms Njasi is preparing for a 24-hour catwalk record attempt at Karen Village in Nairobi.
The Kenyan street model will begin her Guinness World Records attempt on September 26, 2026, with free entry for supporters at the Nairobi venue.
Kenyan street model Abbie Njasi, popularly known as Ms Njasi, is preparing to spend 24 hours on a catwalk in an attempt to secure a Guinness World Records title.
The approved attempt for the Longest Marathon Modeling on a Catwalk is scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Karen Village along Ngong Road in Nairobi. Admission will be free, giving members of the public an opportunity to support her during the endurance challenge.
For Njasi, whose modelling career has developed beyond conventional agency and runway structures, the event brings together fashion, physical endurance and a personal message about overcoming setbacks.
A full day on the runway
Njasi plans to continue walking on the catwalk for 24 hours while complying with the rules and conditions governing the record category. Completing the challenge will require sustained physical stamina and mental focus.
Approval to stage the attempt does not itself amount to recognition of a record. Organisers and witnesses must monitor the challenge and document Njasi’s progress before the outcome can be considered for official recognition.
That documentation will be an important part of the exercise alongside the walking itself. The attempt must meet the requirements set for the category, rather than simply reach the model’s intended duration.
A career built beyond traditional platforms
Njasi has established herself as an independent street model, using public spaces to showcase fashion rather than relying solely on established fashion houses, agencies or organised runway events.
Her approach has drawn attention by turning everyday spaces into modelling platforms. It has also allowed her to create opportunities and connect with audiences outside formal fashion shows.
That unconventional path distinguishes her within Kenya’s competitive fashion and entertainment scene, where access to agencies and major platforms remains a challenge for many emerging models. The planned record attempt adds an endurance test to a career already defined by taking fashion beyond traditional settings.
A challenge with a personal purpose
The event is being presented as more than a test of runway ability. Its stated themes include courage, determination and healing, with grief and difficult personal experiences described as part of Njasi’s motivation.
She hopes the effort will encourage others to continue pursuing their ambitions despite setbacks. Organisers are seeking strong public support, with free admission intended to allow people to attend and encourage her throughout the challenge.
Guinness World Records has previously recognised other catwalk endurance achievements. In 2025, Nigerian model Ololade Ayelabola covered 125.11 kilometres to set the record for the longest distance walked on a catwalk by a model.
That distance-based achievement is distinct from the marathon modelling title Njasi intends to pursue. Her attempt will centre on the planned 24-hour walk and compliance with the conditions for her chosen category.
