Court Orders Utumishi Girls Fire Suspects Held for 21 Days
On June 3, 2026, the Naivasha Law Courts ordered suspects linked to the deadly Utumishi Girls’ Academy dormitory fire to remain in custody for 21 days.
Consequently, the minors will stay at the Nakuru Children’s Remand Home as investigations continue. The prosecution had sought a 30-day detention period to allow detectives additional time to complete inquiries.
However, the court declined the request and approved a shorter detention period. Additionally, the court scheduled the matter for mention on June 24, 2026.
During that session, investigators will present progress reports and receive further directions.
