Education CS Julius Ogamba Releases 2025 KCSE Results
Official Release in Eldoret
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba released the 2025 KCSE results at AIC Chebisaas High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. Moreover, the national examination attracted 993,000 candidates, determining their transition to higher levels of education.
Out of the total, 492,019 were boys and 501,214 were girls. Additionally, candidates sat examinations in 30 subjects administered through 74 papers.
University Entry Performance
A total of 270,715 candidates attained a mean grade of C+ and above. Consequently, these learners secured direct entry into university, with girls forming nearly half of the successful group. Additionally, 1,932 candidates achieved grade A, marking an increase in top performers compared to previous years.
School Performance Trends
Candidates attaining grade C- and above numbered 507,131, up from 476,889 in 2024. Furthermore, those scoring D+ and above totalled 634,082, compared to 605,774 the previous year. National schools led in top performance, producing 1,526 candidates with grade A.
Extra County schools followed with 197, while Private schools produced 185. Sub-County schools outperformed County schools in direct university entry, with 72,699 candidates achieving C+ and above.
Examination Irregularities
The Ministry of Education confirmed that 1,180 candidates engaged in examination irregularities. Consequently, the ministry cancelled their results to uphold integrity and fairness in the national examination process.
Candidate and Subject Analysis
The results revealed a rise in younger candidates aged 16 and below, increasing to 26,391 in 2025. However, the majority of candidates were aged between 17 and 19 years, forming 72.02 per cent of the total. On subject performance, 17 subjects recorded improvements, while 11 subjects declined compared to the previous year.
Gender analysis showed female candidates outperformed males in six subjects, while males excelled in 11 subjects. Performance was comparable in seven subjects, including Physics, Agriculture, Computer Studies, and Music.
How to Access Results
Candidates can now check their results via the official KNEC portal: results.knec.ac.ke.. Furthermore, they must enter their index number and examination year to access provisional results.
To address delays linked to unpaid fees, the ministry directed candidates to collect certificates from subcounty education offices instead of schools.
