Iran’s Ambassador Assures Kenya Is Not a Target Amid Middle East Conflict

Iran’s Ambassador to Kenya, Dr. Ali Gholampour, has dismissed fears that Kenya may be targeted in the escalating Middle East conflict.

He spoke at a press briefing in Nairobi amid rising tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Ambassador Gholampour emphasized that Iran will not launch attacks against Kenya or its territory.

Kenya Not in Range of Iran’s Military Capability

The ambassador explained that Iran’s current military actions are strictly defensive. He noted that Tehran has no intention to expand the conflict beyond the primary belligerents.

Moreover, he pointed out that Iran’s missiles have a maximum range of approximately 2,000 kilometers. Therefore, they cannot reach Kenyan soil, which lies far outside that radius.

Consequently, Kenya is not physically vulnerable to the current hostilities.

Strong Historical Ties Between Iran and Kenya

Gholampour also stressed Kenya’s longstanding diplomatic and economic relations with Iran.

He said Tehran values those ties and wants to preserve them. Furthermore, he clarified that Iran’s retaliatory operations focus only on areas directly involved in the conflict.

Thus, Iran does not aim its military responses at neutral or distant countries like Kenya. He assured the Kenyan public that Nairobi remains outside Tehran’s military considerations.
