Learners Get Another Shot at Grade 10 Selection

Ministry Announces Review Opportunity
Learners dissatisfied with their Grade 10 Senior School placement will have another chance to revise choices next week. Moreover, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba confirmed the revision window will run from January 6 to January 9.

First Review Results Released
The ministry received 355,457 applications during the first review. Additionally, 211,636 were approved, while the rest were declined due to limited subject combinations or school capacity.

High Demand for Top Schools
Ogamba noted schools like Alliance, Kenya High, and Mangu received up to 20,000 applications. Consequently, many requests were rejected since each school had an average capacity of 500 slots.

Placement Success Rate
According to the ministry, 88 percent of learners were placed successfully. Furthermore, approved applicants can now access joining instructions through the official placement portal.

Reporting Dates Confirmed
Learners are required to report to their respective senior schools starting January 12. Thus, the ministry emphasized timely preparation for a smooth transition.

Examination and Placement Background
Ogamba announced the 2025 KJSEA results on December 11. Later, Grade 10 placement results were released on December 19, covering 1,130,459 learners nationwide.

Government Support for Transition
President William Ruto assured sufficient resources for the Grade 10 transition. Specifically, the government released over Ksh44 billion in capitation funds to reach schools before reporting day.

Commitment to Seamless Transition
Ruto emphasized that all 1.1 million learners will transition smoothly. Additionally, he cautioned politicians against politicising the placement process.

The ministry’s second review opportunity offers fairness to dissatisfied learners. Ultimately, government support ensures a seamless Grade 10 transition across Kenya.
