Police Launch Crackdown on Rogue Motorists Nationwide
The National Police Service has launched a major crackdown as the festive season begins. Officers will enforce traffic laws more aggressively on all major highways.
Traffic Officers Intensify Road Enforcement
Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said officers will target key violations. These include overspeeding, drunk driving, dangerous overtaking, and PSV non-compliance.
He warned that officers will take strict action against any offenders.
Compliance Checkpoints Set Up
Additionally, Nyaga confirmed that police had set up compliance checkpoints on major roads. Officers will conduct thorough inspections on all vehicles passing through.
He urged motorists to observe speed limits and maintain their vehicles properly. He also reminded passengers to wear safety belts at all times.
Police and NTSA Strengthen Joint Operations
Moreover, the police will work closely with NTSA to enhance compliance. The agencies will monitor speed, vehicle safety, and PSV carrying capacities.
Nyaga stressed that public service vehicles must follow all regulations.
Security Measures Increased for the Holiday Season
Besides road safety, the police announced expanded security operations for the festive period. All police units will coordinate with government agencies to boost security nationwide.
Patrols Heightened in Public Spaces
Furthermore, officers will increase patrols in towns, shopping centres, stadiums, worship centres, and transport hubs. Nyaga noted that movement rises sharply during the season, creating unique security challenges.
He said police had developed a multiagency plan with special units and undercover officers to prevent crime.
