The bodies of five quintuplets arrived at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The infants will be remembered during a memorial service at the cathedral.
They were born through a rare vaginal delivery at Thika Level 5 Hospital. The babies were named Bravin, Bravlyn, Bravelle, Bravina and Braelyn.
Their family will later transport their bodies to Migori County. They will be buried at their father’s family home.
Quintuplets Born After 25 Weeks
The quintuplets were born to Mercy Kanini from Juja on September 13, 2026. The pregnancy lasted approximately 25 weeks.
Because of their extreme prematurity, the babies required specialised medical care. They were subsequently transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital for neonatal treatment.
However, the infants later died after facing severe complications linked to their premature birth. Four of the babies died within 48 hours of their birth. The final surviving infant died on September 16, 2026.
Family Seeks Answers Over Referral
The deaths have left the family mourning the loss of all five infants. However, the family has also raised concerns about the referral process.
The father, Evans Muri, has called for answers over alleged delays during the transfer process. The family believes the referral from Thika Level 5 Hospital to KNH faced systemic challenges.
They want authorities to establish what happened during the process. Additionally, the family wants clarity on whether earlier intervention could have changed the outcome.
Memorial Service Held in Nairobi
The quintuplets’ bodies arrived at All Saints Cathedral as relatives and mourners gathered. The memorial service provides an opportunity for family members and friends to honour the five infants.
Their rare birth had attracted public attention because vaginal quintuplet deliveries remain extremely uncommon. Despite the tragedy, the family has continued to seek answers.
The infants will now be taken to Migori County for burial. Their final journey will bring the family together as they mourn Bravin, Bravlyn, Bravelle, Bravina and Braelyn.
