Arsenal’s Declan Rice Named 2025 FSA Men’s Player of the Year

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has been crowned the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) Men’s Player of the Year 2025, capping off a dominant year for both club and country.

Fan Vote Seals It for Rice

The award, announced on Thursday night, came after weeks of voting from supporters across the UK. Rice beat top contenders, including Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland, to clinch the fan-favourite honour.

His nomination on November 5 signalled a strong season, but his recent performances pushed him ahead of the pack.

Driving Arsenal’s Title Charge

Since joining Arsenal from West Ham in 2023 for £105 million, Rice has transformed Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He has anchored the team through a strong Premier League campaign, where the Gunners hold a six-point lead after 13 matches.

His defensive presence and leadership have earned wide praise. Rice has also shone in Europe, playing a key role in Arsenal’s unbeaten Champions League run and their emphatic 4–1 derby win over Tottenham.

Fans Rally Behind Him

Supporters flooded social media urging votes for Rice, with many calling him the heartbeat of Arsenal’s title push. The FSA honour adds to his growing list of accolades, including his PFA Team of the Year selection in August.

Arsenal Move to Secure Long-Term Deal

Arsenal are now accelerating contract talks to extend Rice’s stay. Sporting director Andrea Berta has prioritised the negotiations as the midfielder’s current deal runs until 2028.

Arteta recently hailed Rice as “special,” noting the potential still left to unlock. The club’s push mirrors progress on Bukayo Saka’s verbal agreement to stay until 2030, signalling Arsenal’s intent to protect their core squad.

Continuity for Arteta’s Project

As the festive period approaches, Arsenal believe sealing Rice’s long-term future will stabilise the team during a crucial stretch of the season. His form remains central to their Premier League charge and Champions League ambitions.
