Peter Gachau and Raban Ngatia each receive Ksh25 million after predicting 13 of 15 football results correctly.
Farmer Peter Gachau and businessman Raban Ngatia have shared the Ksh50 million Betika jackpot, receiving Ksh25 million each.
The two fathers correctly predicted 13 of 15 selected football matches in the Must Be Won competition. They tied for the highest score in the final week of its eight-week cycle.
Because the competition reached its payout deadline, neither needed a perfect score to claim the main prize. Both men expressed happiness during their unveiling as the latest winners.
Betika jackpot winners come from Embakasi and Narok
Gachau, 45, lives in Embakasi and earns his living through farming. Originally from Kangari in Murang’a County, he is married and has three children.
Meanwhile, Ngatia, 46, runs a business from Narok, supplying wooden doors to customers in Kisii. His work serves the building and home improvement trade.
Ngatia is also married and has three daughters. The two men finished level on predictions, so each received half of the prize pot.
They join other Must Be Won Jackpot winners, including Eric Macharia Ndwiga and Edwin Indimuli Mukaye. The competition also recorded a shared payout in April, when eight winners divided the prize.
How the eight-week payout rule works
The jackpot runs over eight weeks, and players can win the main prize during that period. However, if nobody claims it within seven weeks, the highest-scoring player or players receive it in week eight.
Where several players finish with the same leading score, they divide the prize equally. That rule determined Gachau and Ngatia’s payout after both finished with 13 correct predictions.
At the unveiling, Betika Head of Brand Eric Mwiti said the company designed the competition around a firm payout deadline. He said the structure prevents the jackpot from continuing for years without a winner.
Betika Gaming Product Lead Mccarios Mayaka also explained that qualifying weekly participants can earn up to three Game Passes. Each pass counts as one automatic correct prediction.
A customer using three passes therefore needs to predict the remaining 12 match results correctly. However, those passes operate separately from the eighth-week payout rule.
Mwiti also urged customers to bet responsibly and use only money they can afford to lose. The payout deadline does not guarantee any individual a win, and participation is restricted to adults aged 18 and above.
