Heavy congestion along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway has delayed journeys to the capital.
ENA Coach has warned Nairobi-bound passengers of longer journeys as heavy traffic near St. Mary’s Hospital disrupts bus services.
An ENA Coach advisory has warned passengers travelling from western Kenya to Nairobi to expect delays along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. Heavy traffic near St. Mary’s Hospital has disrupted the operator’s bus services.
In its notice on Sunday, November 8, the company described the delays as slight. However, the wider congestion has left some motorists spending the night along the route.
The operator urged passengers travelling from upcountry through Nakuru to allow for longer journeys. It also apologised for the inconvenience and asked customers for patience as buses navigated the traffic.
Meanwhile, ENA Coach said it was working to keep services running smoothly and avoid further delays. The company also assured passengers that their safety and comfort remained its priorities.
ENA Coach advisory comes amid highway congestion
The Nairobi-Nakuru Highway serves as a major link between western Kenya and the capital. The route also experiences heavy congestion during festive periods, when travel volumes increase.
To ease traffic along the corridor, the government began upgrading the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway into a dual carriageway. The Ministry of Roads and Transport says sections between Rironi and Naivasha will open to traffic by December 2026.
The remaining section towards Mau Summit is due for completion by April 2027. After that, the government plans to begin another phase extending from Mau Summit towards Eldoret and Malaba.
