Police have pledged security for ODM’s planned gathering at Jacaranda Grounds.
Issa Mohamud says officers will secure the route from Uhuru Park to Jacaranda Grounds, while the CBD remains off-limits.
Nairobi Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud has assured ODM of adequate security for its planned Jacaranda rally. Officers will cover the route from Uhuru Park to Jacaranda Grounds to maintain order as participants move.
Speaking on October 30 after meeting Nairobi security chiefs, Mohamud said police had received notification of the gathering. The rally is expected to culminate at Jacaranda Grounds.
Jacaranda rally security and movement advisory
Mohamud warned against attempts to disrupt the gathering, saying security agencies would take necessary action to maintain law and order. He also said officers would ensure participants move in an orderly manner along the route.
However, the Central Business District will remain off-limits, Mohamud said. He maintained that police would not allow the capital to descend into chaos during the planned gathering.
Meanwhile, the commander urged residents, motorists and visitors to plan their movements early. He also advised them to follow police directives and stay informed about possible road closures or diversions.
