The rapper will make his first Super Bowl performance at SoFi Stadium on February 14, 2027, after years of helping shape the halftime show.

The Jay-Z halftime show will headline Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It will mark the rapper’s first performance at the NFL championship game.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has helped shape the annual show since 2019. That year, the NFL partnered with his entertainment company, Roc Nation, on the event’s musical direction.

Jay-Z halftime show brings a new role

Under that partnership, Roc Nation oversees musical direction and artist selection for the halftime show. Jay-Z has therefore played a central role in deciding who takes the stage.

Now, he will step into the headline slot himself, joining a list of recent performers that includes Bad Bunny. Other recent headliners include Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Rihanna and The Weeknd.

Meanwhile, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell welcomed the announcement and described a longstanding wish to see Jay-Z perform. Goodell said securing that performance was his only special request when the league first partnered with Roc Nation.

He also expressed excitement about the artistry, creativity and cultural impact Jay-Z would bring to fans worldwide.

Return to SoFi after anniversary concerts

The selection comes days after Jay-Z performed two concerts at the same stadium. Those shows marked the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

In a statement, Carter reflected on the journey from that album to the Super Bowl halftime stage. He described the occasion as a celebration of three decades of music, work and culture.

His career also includes 25 Grammy Awards and several major honours. Jay-Z became the first hip-hop artist to enter the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In addition, he joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.

Guest speculation begins

The announcement has already prompted fans to speculate about possible guests, including his wife, singer Beyoncé. However, her participation remains speculation rather than a confirmed part of the show.

The NFL also acknowledged that anticipation over potential guest performers would now begin.
